How To Create A DotNetNuke Module Quickly, From Scratch

hi rafe ,
this blog is nice and simple, but is there any chance for the user to edit this module, if yes.. then how to do that... i tried creating an edit module , but couldn succeed. i can only view the module ... i want the module to be edited by certain users only.. how to go about it..

I've spent the last 2 weeks "reading" & trying to do tutorials, going through books, scouring the web, all with no results.
So, I scoured the web deeper, and hit your link on the 2nd google page when searching for "create new DotNetnuke security module".
While I still need to create my own login module, your tutorial got me where no other tutorial and/or book could get me.
Now, I did use DNN v4, but v5 is now out which we want to use. I'll try these same steps in v5 and report back (in a new comment).

So, I was able to adapt the instructions Rafe provided and quickly create a new module in DNN version 5.
